Blog The history of Asetek SimSports and UGT
Back to blog
In November of 2020, Asetek acquired Ultimate GameTech (UGT) to develop state-of-the-art sim racing technology. Ultimate Game Tech was the best on the market, but we saw an opportunity to optimize and develop their current product for an ultimate sim racing experience.
One of the reasons why Asetek SimSports acquired Ultimate Game Tech was respect for technology and innovation. In that context, you can compare Asetek’s and Ultimate Game Tech’s humble beginnings.
Ultimate Game Tech started their sim racing journey because they were dissatisfied with the options on the market. If you can’t buy quality sim racing displays, you’ll have to create them yourself – and that was what the founders of UGT did when they developed UGT Manager.
The development of UGT Manager was, among other things, a product of experimenting with utilizing over-powered microchips. As a result, UGT created a powerful all-in-one technology to optimize the sim racing experience in wheels and dashboards. UGT was founded on a passion for improving the sim racing experience and likewise was Asetek SimSports. Today, one of the founders of UGT works as a software developer at Asetek.
Asetek has more than 20 years of experience in mechatronics and gaming. Therefore, we know what it takes to develop hardware for enthusiasts.
We knew that we had to combine our knowledge and experience with Ultimate Game Tech to develop state-of-the-art sim racing technology so you can have the most authentic racing experience.
UGT will soon live on through the Asetek SimSports software, RaceHub, which will help sim racers calibrate their equipment more easily.
We are still supporting UGT and will continue to do so for the time being. Check out our support if you’re already a user. If you have any questions or matters concerning UGT, you can contact us there.
